Big News for Citizens Applying for National Identity Cards

In a welcome move for millions of Pakistani citizens, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced a significant upgrade for its National Identity Card services. Applicants can now obtain a chip-less ID card equipped with several modern features previously reserved for smart cards — and at a lower price point.

This update comes as part of NADRA’s ongoing commitment to making essential identity services more accessible, efficient, and user-friendly.

New Chip-less ID Card Now Packed with Smart Features

The chip-less National Identity Card will now offer most of the essential functionalities associated with smart cards, ensuring better convenience and compatibility for citizens at an affordable fee.

Key Features of the Updated Chip-less ID Card

• Bilingual Data Entry: Citizens will receive ID cards with personal details printed in both English and Urdu, along with a colored photograph. This ensures accurate documentation on passports and other official papers.

• QR Code Integration: Every card will carry a QR code, enabling users to access a digital version of their ID through the Pak-ID mobile app.

• Organ Donation Registration: A special indicator for individuals registered as organ donors, alongside a lifetime validity option for their card.

• Special Facilities for Differently-abled Persons: NADRA will issue ID cards featuring a specific symbol and lifetime validity for persons with disabilities, promoting ease of identification and services.

• Renewal, Modification, and Replacement Options: Applicants renewing, updating, or replacing their ID cards can also opt for the new chip-less version with enhanced features.

Affordable Fees and Fast Delivery Options

NADRA has revised its fee and delivery structure to accommodate various needs:

• Normal Category: PKR 400 with a delivery time of 31 days.

• Urgent Category: PKR 1,150 with a delivery time of 15 days.

• Executive Category: PKR 2,150 with a delivery time of just 9 days.

• Special Offer for First-Time Applicants: Citizens turning 18 can obtain their first-ever ID card under the Normal category free of cost.

A Step Forward in Digital Identity Services

This initiative not only improves accessibility but also ensures that citizens have reliable identification tools for domestic and international use.
