Pakistan Army Shoots Down Dozens of Indian Drones in Major Air Defence Operation

ISLAMABAD: In a significant escalation of regional tensions, the Pakistan Army has reportedly shot down dozens of Indian drones attempting to violate Pakistani airspace in multiple cities across the country. The aggressive airspace incursions, allegedly part of India's ongoing military operations, were swiftly countered by Pakistan's air defence units and ground forces.

According to a report by Dawn News, the Pakistan Army successfully intercepted and destroyed over 80 Indian drones since the morning, targeting drones in Sialkot, Sukkur, Toba Tek Singh, Rahim Yar Khan, Sheikhupura, and other key locations.

Sialkot: Multiple Drones Shot Down, Debris Secured

The first wave of drone incursions was detected in Sialkot, where several Indian drones crossed into Pakistani territory. Pakistan Army air defence units responded immediately, shooting down multiple drones near the Padar Nawali suburb. Security forces promptly secured the debris for forensic examination and intelligence gathering.

A military spokesperson confirmed:

"Several Indian drones attempting to breach Pakistan’s airspace in Sialkot were destroyed mid-air. Our security teams swiftly took control of the crash sites."

Sukkur, Toba Tek Singh, and Pir Mahal: Swift Military Response

An Indian drone was also intercepted and destroyed near the airbase adjacent to Sukkur Airport. Fortunately, no damage was caused by the drone’s crash.

In Toba Tek Singh, Indian forces attempted to target the Rafiqi Air Base, but the attempt was thwarted by Pakistan’s air defence. Three Indian drones were shot down in the Pir Mahal area, with wreckage recovered near village Pir Gurdiana. The drones caused fires in surrounding fields, but local firefighting teams managed to extinguish the blazes promptly, ensuring no civilian casualties or property damage.

Sheikhupura and Narang Mandi: Airspace Secured

In Sheikhupura, a drone was intercepted and shot down in the Jai Singh Wala area of Narang Mandi. The drone fell in fields outside populated areas, causing a small fire. Rescue and bomb disposal teams quickly secured the area, neutralizing any risk from the debris.

Rahim Yar Khan: Drones Neutralized Near Sheikh Zayed International Airport

The Pakistan Army’s air defence teams shot down more than three Indian drones over Rahim Yar Khan. Notably, the wreckage of one drone landed near the Sheikh Zayed International Airport, prompting immediate deployment of security and emergency services to the crash site.

A senior security official confirmed:

"Our air defence systems successfully intercepted multiple drones in Rahim Yar Khan. Swift action ensured no threat to civilian life or infrastructure."

80 Indian Drones Downed Since Morning: Security Sources

Reliable military sources reported that over 80 Indian drones have been destroyed in Pakistani airspace since early morning. The continuous drone activity is being viewed as part of a broader escalation in cross-border hostilities, with both nations trading aerial strikes and counter-measures over the past 48 hours.

The Pakistan Army’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has yet to release an official consolidated statement, though military sources indicate that security and defence installations remain on high alert nationwide.

No Civilian Casualties or Major Damage Reported

Despite the aggressive drone activity, no loss of civilian life or significant damage to infrastructure has been reported. Fires caused by drone debris in agricultural areas were swiftly brought under control by local emergency services.

Rising Tensions Along the Border

This latest development adds to the already volatile situation between India and Pakistan, following reports of retaliatory airstrikes, missile exchanges, and cross-border skirmishes in recent days.

Military analysts warn that the continued escalation of hostilities, especially the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and missile systems, could risk further destabilizing the region if diplomatic channels are not urgently activated. The successful interception of dozens of Indian drones by the Pakistan Army highlights the ongoing and dangerous state of military confrontations between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. While both sides have traded accusations and confirmed military actions, the international community continues to call for restraint and immediate de-escalation.
