Iranian Missiles Hit Tel Aviv and Haifa as Middle East Tensions Soar - Bio Points News

Tel Aviv, Haifa – June 16, 2025:
Tensions in the Middle East reached a boiling point early Monday morning as Iran launched a fresh wave of missile attacks on Israel, striking major cities Tel Aviv and Haifa, and causing widespread panic, destruction, and civilian casualties.

The predawn strikes caught many residents off-guard, flattening buildings in central Tel Aviv and sending shockwaves across the densely populated neighborhoods. According to Israel’s national emergency services, at least five people were killed and over 100 were injured, some critically.

In Haifa, a coastal city known for its strategic port and power facilities, local authorities reported heavy damage near a power station, with fires breaking out shortly after the impact. Rescue teams were dispatched to search for the wounded and missing.

"It was like nothing I’ve ever heard before," said Guydo Tetelbaun, a Tel Aviv resident. "We rushed to the shelter, and minutes later, the door was blown in. People were bleeding… the walls of our apartment collapsed."

Nearby, a school in Bnei Brak and a residential street in Petah Tikva also sustained damage from falling debris and shockwaves.

Iran Claims New Missile Tactic Confused Israeli Defenses

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for the attack, boasting that they used a “new method” that disrupted Israel’s layered missile defense systems by forcing them to intercept their own signals. This, they said, enabled several missiles to penetrate deep into Israeli territory without interception.

Israel’s Iron Dome and David’s Sling systems, while usually reliable, appeared overwhelmed during the strike. Military analysts say this could mark a shift in regional warfare, particularly if Iran’s missile technology continues to evolve.

Israel Vows Strong Response as G7 Leaders Watch Closely

In response, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz accused Iran’s leadership of cowardice for targeting civilian areas and warned that “Tehran will pay the price.” Israel has already begun retaliatory operations targeting IRGC command centers and weapons sites in Iran.

Meanwhile, world leaders attending the G7 summit in Canada expressed deep concern over the escalating crisis. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said the conflict would be high on the agenda and emphasized the importance of preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

U.S. on Alert, Oil Markets React

While U.S. President Donald Trump reiterated his support for Israel, he denied direct U.S. involvement in Iran’s attacks. However, reports suggest that U.S. forces helped intercept Iranian missiles headed toward Israel last week.

Trump also warned Iran against targeting American interests, stating, “They need to choose diplomacy over destruction.”

Amid the turmoil, global oil prices saw a slight rise, with Brent crude futures climbing by 0.5% as markets responded cautiously to the developments.

Rising Civilian Deaths and Humanitarian Concerns

Iran's Health Ministry reported over 220 deaths so far due to Israeli retaliatory strikes, with most casualties being civilians. The destruction of infrastructure in both countries is raising humanitarian concerns, particularly with damaged hospitals, schools, and energy facilities.

With both nations vowing not to back down and international diplomacy struggling to keep pace, the world watches anxiously as the situation unfolds in a region long haunted by war.
