Blake Lively Targets Scooter Braun in Legal Dispute with Director Justin Baldoni

In the latest twist in an already dramatic legal saga, actress Blake Lively has taken steps to subpoena music executive Scooter Braun and Hybe America, where Braun holds a top leadership position. This development comes as part of her ongoing legal dispute with It Ends With Us director and co-star, Justin Baldoni.

According to insiders, Lively’s legal team is looking to uncover communications and links tied to Melissa Nathan, a crisis PR strategist affiliated with The Agency Group (TAG), which has connections to Hybe Corp. Nathan represented Baldoni during the controversy surrounding the film’s release in mid-2024.

Lively originally filed a lawsuit against Baldoni and his production company Wayfarer, alleging retaliation and a coordinated online smear campaign after she made claims of sexual harassment. Though Baldoni responded with a $400 million countersuit accusing Lively of defamation and extortion, a federal judge recently dismissed his case — marking a partial win for Lively and her legal team.

However, Lively’s original suit remains active and is scheduled for trial on March 9, 2026. Her team is now turning its attention toward other parties who may have played a role behind the scenes — including Braun.

Notably, this legal tangle brings back the public feud between Scooter Braun and pop superstar Taylor Swift, a longtime friend of Lively. Braun’s controversial acquisition of Big Machine Records in 2019, which gave him control of Swift’s master recordings, sparked widespread outrage and led Swift to re-record her earlier albums.

Interestingly, Swift is loosely connected to the current dispute as well. One of her songs was reportedly used in a version of the It Ends With Us film cut aligned with Lively’s vision, and she was even considered as a potential witness due to her support for certain script changes.

In one email exchange made public in the filings, Lively referred to Swift and her husband Ryan Reynolds as her “dragons”, implying their protective stance amid the chaos.

Despite the recent court ruling in her favor, the legal back-and-forth is far from over. Judge Lewis J. Liman permitted Baldoni’s team to revise and resubmit a portion of their lawsuit, keeping the door open for further claims centered on contractual matters. Meanwhile, requests to penalize Baldoni’s legal team with fees were denied — at least for now.

Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, maintains that the case revolves around "false claims of harassment" and denied any orchestrated campaign against Lively, stating the actress’s team cannot “prove what never happened.”
