In a candid conversation with the hosts of Nova's Ricki-Lee, Tim, and Joel on May 2, Blanco, 37, opened up about the unexpected tension between the couple while recording at home.

The Argument That Stemmed From Birds

Blanco shared that the couple had been recording the album in a guest bedroom at their home, which was located near a nest of birds. While Benny didn’t initially notice the bird sounds, Selena was driven crazy by them.

“There was a nest of birds right outside the window where she was recording,” Benny explained. “For some reason, I never heard it because whenever I walked in, the birds didn’t make any noise.”

The producer went on to detail how Selena’s frustration grew, as she had to deal with the constant chirping during her recording sessions. Finally, Selena captured the bird sounds on the mic and Benny was forced to acknowledge the issue.

“It was frustrating so much… Finally, she got it on wax, it picked up on the mic, and I finally heard it,” Benny confessed.

A Realization About Their Relationship

Despite the tension over the birds, Benny viewed the disagreement as a sign of their compatibility. He remarked that the way they handled the situation showed how well they communicate.

“We’re not the arguing type. We’re not like yellers,” Benny continued. “We just kind of talk everything out. We have really good communication skills.”

Blanco added that this argument, over something as trivial as birds, made him realize just how much he and Selena were meant for each other.
